Terms of use
Last updated 3 October 2026
The agreement between you and GNK Softworks Ltd for using Mabel, in plain words.
The short version
- You need to be 13 or older, and your account is yours alone.
- What you add stays yours. We only use it to run Mabel.
- Share pets only with people you trust with their records.
- Basic is free, with ads in the apps. Paid plans are App Store or Google Play subscriptions with no ads.
- Mabel helps you keep track, but it isn't a vet. Always check with yours.
1. About these terms
These terms are the agreement between you and GNK Softworks Ltd (“we”, “us”), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15699902), for using Mabel: the website at mabelpets.app and the Mabel apps for iPhone, iPad and Android. By creating an account or using Mabel, you agree to them.
Our privacy policy explains what we do with your data. Questions about these terms go to [email protected].
2. Who can use Mabel
You need to be 13 or older. If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission to buy a plan. One account is for one person: don't share it, and don't make an account for someone else.
3. Your account
- Give us a real email address you can use. We need to confirm it before you can start.
- Keep your password to yourself. We recommend turning on two-step sign-in.
- You're responsible for what happens in your account. If you think someone else has got in, change your password and email [email protected].
- We email you about your account, your pets and the reminders you choose. News and offers come only if you ask for them, and you can stop them at any time.
4. Pets and the people on them
Each pet has one owner, and the owner and co-owners can invite others with a role: co-owner, sitter, vet or viewer. Mabel shows everyone on the pet what their role allows, and who did what.
- Only invite people you're happy to share that pet's records with. They'll see the pet's history, notes, files and the names of people on it.
- The owner decides who stays on a pet, and can hand the pet to someone else. Anyone but the owner can leave a pet at any time.
- A lost-pet card is public while it's switched on: anyone with its link or QR code can see what it shows.
5. What you put into Mabel
You own what you add: records, notes, photos and documents. You give us permission to store, copy, process and show it, only to run Mabel for you and the people you share it with, including resizing photos and sending reminders.
Only add what you have the right to share, including other people's contact details and photos. Don't add anything unlawful, or anything that infringes someone else's rights.
Keep your own copies of important documents. You can download all your data from your Account page at any time.
6. Using Mabel fairly
Please don't:
- use Mabel to harass, deceive or harm anyone, or to send spam (including through invites);
- upload malware, or try to get into accounts, pets or data that aren't yours;
- probe, overload or interfere with Mabel, or get around its limits or security;
- scrape Mabel, or copy, resell or reverse engineer it, except where the law allows;
- click on the ads in the apps when you aren't interested in them, or make anything else click them;
- use Mabel for anything illegal.
7. Plans and payments
- Basic is free and shows ads in the Mabel apps (not on the website). Paid plans have no ads. Paid plans (Family and Professional) add email reminders, and credits that make pets paid, unlocking sharing and documents for everyone on them. What each plan includes is shown on the Plan page.
- Paid plans are subscriptions bought in the Mabel app, through Apple's App Store or Google Play. The store you buy from takes payment, and its terms cover billing, renewal, cancelling and refunds. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in your Apple account settings or in Google Play, before the end of the current period (Apple needs at least 24 hours' notice).
- Deleting your Mabel account doesn't cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription. Cancel it with Apple or Google too.
- When a plan ends or changes to a smaller one, your credits are kept on your own pets first, then the rest are released. Pets without a credit lose their paid features, and others on them lose access until someone pays for them again. Nothing is deleted.
- We may change prices or what plans include. We'll tell you before a price change affects you, and the store will ask for your agreement where it's required.
8. Mabel isn't a vet
Mabel helps you keep track of care, but it isn't veterinary advice and doesn't replace your vet. Reminders depend on what's been entered, your settings, your devices and services outside our control, so they might not always arrive. Always check medicines, doses and treatments with your vet, and contact a vet straight away in an emergency.
9. Changes to Mabel
We're always improving Mabel, so features may change. We aim to keep Mabel available, but we can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error free, for example during maintenance. If we ever stop running Mabel, we'll give you reasonable notice and time to download your data.
10. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from your Account page. You'll choose, for each pet you own, whether to hand it to someone already on it or delete it.
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where we have to by law. Where it's reasonable, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to put things right. The pets you're on carry on for the other people on them.
11. Our responsibility to you
If you use Mabel as a consumer, you have legal rights, including that we provide our service with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms affects those rights.
We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We're not responsible for loss or damage that wasn't foreseeable, for business losses, or for problems caused by things outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited or excluded by law.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when Mabel changes or the law does. We'll update the date at the top, and tell you by email or in Mabel before an important change takes effect. If you don't agree, you can delete your account before then.
13. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes go to the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings there. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
14. If you use the Mabel app from the App Store
These extra terms apply to the Mabel app downloaded from Apple's App Store:
- These terms are between you and GNK Softworks Ltd, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app and its content.
- You may use the app on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as Apple's Usage Rules in the App Store terms allow.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for maintenance and support of the app. Apple has no obligation to provide any.
- If the app fails to meet any warranty that applies, you can tell Apple and Apple will refund the price you paid for it, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for dealing with any claims about the app, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, consumer protection claims, and claims that it infringes someone's intellectual property.
- You confirm you're not in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as “terrorist supporting”, and you're not on a US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must follow any third-party terms that apply when using the app, such as your mobile network's.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and Apple can enforce them against you.
15. If you use the Mabel app from Google Play
These extra terms apply to the Mabel app downloaded from Google Play:
- These terms are between you and GNK Softworks Ltd, not Google. We, not Google, are responsible for the app and its content.
- Google Play's Terms of Service and policies also apply to downloading the app and to purchases made through Google Play.
- Google has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. We provide it.
- Refunds for purchases made through Google Play are handled under Google Play's refund policies.
